Johnny Grey Studios designed mixed material kitchen for Christhoper and Sonhild Grey's 18th-century townhouse.
'For us kitchen is the most important family room and the centre of the house,' explains Christhoper Grey. So although it's small, it had to house everything we need as well as provide access to the garden. We wanted to able to enjoy the views outside when doing the washing-up, too. The couple also requested a bright and contemporary scheme, as Sonhild is an artist who love rich colour.
Bespoke kitchen designer Johnny Grey was happy to take up the challenge. 'The kitchen was designed for serious cooking', he says, 'and had to accomodate a six-seater table, so the ergonomics were crucial. The idea of using soft geometry was also key to risk of bumping into each other, as the room is fairly modest in size'
The curved cabinetry is made from Australian walnut and maple veneer, with ceramic plinths and handmade American Black walnut handles. The Arced design makes the most of limited space, while adjacent colourful lacquered cabinet adds to the playful and vibrant nature scheme.
