With a nod to the past, designer Kevin Ritter of Timeless Kitchen Design brought function and flair to this Pennsylvania farmhouse kitchen.
Play With Color, Large Kitchen can get weighed down with the wall upon wall of one-note cabinetry, Ritter used a pallete of cream, ocher and French blue milk paint to visually open up the space.
Mind The Detail, The Custom cabinet were handcrafted form reclaimed lumber, so the hardware had to be just as special. Rat-Tail hinges (the name refer to the 'tail' metal-smiths used to grasp the hinge pin while forging it) fit the bill.
Rethink Materials, Usually found overhead pressed-tin tiles are practical and tactile solution for the backsplash, lending nostalgic charm to the room.
Redesign Wisely, Ritter removed cabinetry to make way for an oversize island topped in non porous soapstone; it's now the workhorse of the kitchen.
